September 9, 2024 – ARVADA, CO – Today, the Arvada Resiliency Taskforce (ART), a coalition of local business and community organizations, delivered 100 crime and safety toolkits to businesses in the City of Arvada. The toolkits, titled “Navigating Crime and Safety at Your Business,” are designed to help businesses enhance their security measures and educate owners and employees on effective crime prevention strategies.
In 2023, crime became an increasing concern for Arvada area businesses. In the Arvada Resiliency Taskforce’s Q2 Business Pulse Survey, Arvada businesses and nonprofits rated “Homelessness or Public Safety” as the #4 business challenge, with 25.7% of respondents selecting it as a top issue. The Taskforce announced the Crime & Safety Program to help tackle safety concerns for the business community.
This new toolkit is designed to provide clear guidance for businesses of all sizes to protect and secure their people and assets better. This toolkit is broken into four proactive sections that helps businesses determine opportunities to enhance how they prevent crime, navigate homelessness, enhance cyber security, and plan for emergencies.
“This is so helpful,” Kit Simon, owner of the Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor said. “I’ve been looking at ways to make the shop safer and need a new security camera. The Arvada Resiliency Taskforce toolkit will give me some good ideas on next steps.”
The Arvada Resiliency Taskforce is a cross-section of local partners assembled to support the latest challenges impacting all Arvada businesses and non-profits. The Taskforce includes the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Arvada Economic Development Association, Arvada Visitors Center, City of Arvada, Olde Town Business Improvement District, The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Apex Park and Recreation District, Arvada Fire, and the Arvada Police Department.
