Why is the work of this KAPS Council important to you?

Housing is one of the top three barriers to self-sufficiency for the teen moms we serve at Hope House. It is so important that we stay connected to all of the important work in this area so that we can help more of our young moms find and maintain stable housing. It is also critical that we find avenues to support our employees, who are passionate about working in the nonprofit field, to find affordable housing in our community. Housing costs are a barrier to working in nonprofit and we have had team members leave the state in order to find more affordable housing.

Everyone should have the opportunity to attain housing within a reasonable proximity to their place of work. I believe Arvada can be the Colorado community that leads by example uncovering & enacting innovative housing solutions that will make our city thrive.
