By Ryan Hecht, Greater Arvada Chamber of Commerce Marketing Director
“Tribe Mind Body Wellness isn’t just a counseling practice,” says owner/therapist Emily Garcia. “It’s a place where people find hope, healing, and belonging.”
“When I started Tribe in 2019, I kept hearing people talk about how lonely they felt. Even the U.S. Surgeon General has called loneliness an epidemic. I wanted to create a space where people could find community, feel seen, and know they weren’t alone.”
Over the last 6 years, Tribe has gone from Emily as the sole therapist/provider and working virtually out of her basement, to a whole team that works out of our two locations in Lakewood and Arvada, Colorado. What started as a personal mission has grown into a thriving community of therapists dedicated to helping people move from shame and unworthiness to self-acceptance and a feeling of being whole.
What services do you offer the community?
Emily: “We provide therapy for children, teens, adults, and couples, offering individual counseling as well as groups, workshops, retreats, and speaking engagements to support mental well-being in our community.
We host EmpowHer Women’s Gathering, a monthly event held at our Arvada office on the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, where women come together to foster connection, personal growth, and empowerment.
This April, we are launching the Circle of Security Parenting Workshop—a hybrid program (in-person at our Lakewood office and virtually) designed to help parents of younger children navigate big emotions, strengthen attachment and connection, and improve communication and conflict resolution with their kids.
What makes Tribe unique is our deep commitment to accessibility. Colorado is facing a mental health crisis, and too many people struggle in silence due to financial barriers. Therapy should never be a luxury, which is why we created Counseling on a Budget—a program that provides affordable therapy with highly vetted, supervised master’s-level interns to ensure high-quality, compassionate care for all.”
How did you get started doing this important work?
“My passion for this work comes from my own experience. When I was 15, after disclosing abuse, I was placed in foster care and received therapy through Victim’s Compensation. My therapist changed my life. She helped me believe I was worthy of love and safety. While working with her, I started to envision a future for myself for the first time. I knew then that I wanted to help others in the way she helped me.”
How big is your team?
“Today, Tribe includes a team of eight therapists, four master’s-level counseling interns, and one spiritual director, all working in a shared mission to provide people with the best support possible.”

What advice would you give a new business or entrepreneur in Arvada?
“Be vulnerable and show up. Building a business isn’t just about what you offer, it’s about the connections you make along the way. I have found that networking isn’t just for meeting as many people as possible. Rather, networking gives you the opportunity to find the right people who align with your values and building real relationships. The people you connect with today could become your biggest supporters, referral sources, and collaborators down the road.
Also, progress over perfection. So many entrepreneurs hesitate to put themselves out there because they don’t feel ready. The truth? You’ll never feel 100% ready. Don’t wait until everything is perfect to launch your service, product, or idea because perfection is a moving target. Get started, listen to feedback, and improve as you go. The most successful businesses evolve over time, learning and growing along the way.
Most importantly, believe in what you’re building. Arvada has an amazing business community full of people who want to see you succeed. Lean into that support and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
What have you found most valuable to being a member of the Greater Arvada Chamber?
“This chamber is truly something special. The staff doesn’t just go through the motions, they know the members, care about them, and are invested in the success of the community. They’re constantly adding workshops, classes, and resources to help businesses thrive. Plus, they’re just really fun, good people!”
What is your favorite business book, podcast or news resource?
“I co-host a podcast called SoulStirred: Stories of Growth & The Human Experience, so that’s my favorite (definitely biased!). Another podcast I love is The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes. One of my favorite books is The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World—it’s such a powerful read about resilience and perspective.”
