The Arvada Chamber of Commerce celebrated businesses, organizations and community leaders at the 96th Annual Dinner at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities on August 6, 2021. Find information on all the award winners, plus photos and videos of the event below.

2020 Business of the Year | Flatirons Dance

Founded in 2016, Flatirons Dance is based on family values – the key ingredient that enables this studio to successfully stand out in the world of dance. More than 20 professionally-trained staff members provide a nurturing and inclusive environment, with the focus on treating each child or adult student like they are a welcome addition to this special family.

2020 Nonprofit of the Year | Epic Experience

Epic Experience serves the cancer survivor and thriver population with a focus around mental and physical health for those who have or continue to fight cancer. During the pandemic, Epic Experience transformed its signature in-person camp experience to virtual programs. In order to accommodate its immune-compromised target audience, the non-profit also provided educational how-to videos, free virtual yoga and fitness programs, and a virtual 3-day camp experience. Epic Experience’s work has been nationally recognized and has helped put Arvada on the map as a place of love, compassion and family.

2020 Chairman’s Choice Awards | Michael McCarron (Owner of Lakeside Insurance) and Kat Douglas (Director of the Business and Workforce Center for Jefferson County)

Michael McCarron served on the Board of Directors for nearly 10 years – ending his tenure as the Chairman of the Board. He also served on the Advocacy KAPS Council for many years and the Planning Commission for 2 years.

Kat Douglas was the driving force behind Jefferson County’s focus on Economic Recovery throughout the pandemic by convening Chamber and Economic Development leaders from across the county to better understand needs and resources. Additionally, Kat led the business grant program for the county, coordinated the 5-star program and much more. Kat has also stepped up in thoughtful ways to support the improvements within our workforce system by serving on the Chamber Workforce KAPS Council and subsequent partner conversations to create a more aligned and productive workforce system.

2020 Chamber Leader of the Year | Amy Powell, Well Works

Amy Powell has committed to serving on the Leadership KAPS Council and being an advocate for the programming and success of our Leadership Bootcamp. She is also an incredible presenter. Additionally, Amy has served our workforce priority by offering business perspective through our Youth Pipeline Action Team and most recently assisting in the creation of the Work-Based Learning Toolkit.

2020 Behind the Scenes Award | Community First Foundation

When the COVID-19 Pandemic started Community First Foundation started the Jeffco Hope Fund to strengthen and stabilize Jeffco community organizations responding to and impacted by COVID-19. When the tragedy in Olde Town happened they moved quickly to align resources and develop the Healing Fund. On top of engaging in resource allocation, the team at Community First Foundation is consistently showing up in response and recovery efforts, talent pipeline improvements, civility promotion and much more.
