Survey Demographics

COVID-19 Impact

The overall impact of COVID-19 has decreased from the summer to November, with 15% of businesses indicating that recouping lost revenue from COVID-19 is their top business challenge. We also understand that many of the top challenges, including Finding Skilled Employees (52%), Mental Health (24%) and Not Enough Customers (24%), are associated with pandemic recovery.

November 2021 Business Challenges

Once again, “Finding Skilled Employees” is the top challenge for businesses in Arvada. Hiring as the top challenge actually increased slightly from Q2 to November. Notably, “Employee Mental Health and Burnout” jumped from the number 4 challenge to number 2. Supply Chain Issues (#3), Retaining Employees (#5), and Cost of Goods Increasing (#6) are new additions to the top ten challenges.

COVID-19 Testing

Prior to the new health order mandating masks, we asked businesses about their testing requirements in order to determine the need for additional resources and tests. 43% of businesses indicated they only require a test if symptomatic, while 27% say they require proof of vaccination or a negative test for staff. Of businesses that do require testing, over a third responded they could not easily access the number of tests required.
